TPI (Telefonica Publicidad
On n'arrête
pas le progrès.
The TPI Group began its activity
in Spain in 1967, under the name CETESA and is presently the leader on
the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking directories market, with a presence
in five countries: Spain, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Argentina.
The main characteristic
of its business model is its status as a meeting point between supply and
demand, with a portfolio of products that has evolved in line with customer
and user needs and preferences. Products and services of the TPI Group
offer updated information, at any time and at any place, through its directories
on paper, on the Internet and through telephone information services. The
published version of Páginas Amarillas (Yellow Pages) has close
to 405,000 advertisers.
TPI was the first company
of the Telefónica Group to go public. It was floated by means of
an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in June 1999. Months later and in the
first revision of the IBEX-35 Index following its listing on the Stock
Exchange, TPI was chosen to join the selective Ibex 35. The TPI share also
joined the Spanish New Market Index since its conception in year 2000.
International expansion
of TPI was initiated in 1999 with the incorporation, in the city of São
Paulo, of Telefónica Publicidade e Informação (TPI
Brazil). In December 2000,TPI formalized the purchase of 51% of the share
capital of Publiguías, the leading company in the Chilean directories
market. In February 2002, TPI Peru was acquired. Following the rights issue
of TPI Brazil, carried out in 2003, and the purchase agreements relative
to the acquisition of the remaining 49% of Publiguías stock, formalised
during the first quarter of 2004, TPI holds a 100% stake in the capital
stock of its three subsidiary companies.
Since last November 2005,
the TPI Group has been present in Argentina through acquisition of Telinver,
a company that commercialises telephone directories in the country. This
acquistion concludes the process of integration, under management by TPI,
of all the directory assets of the Telefónica Group in Latin America.
Moreover, since October
2005 TPI, has operated through 1288 Servizio di Consultazione Telefónica
S.r.l. in Italy, taking advantage of the liberalization of telephone information
services. With this initiative, TPI has exported the success of its leading
Telephone Information Services on the Spanish market.
