Sabadell obtains net profit of Euros 233.6 million after allocating
Euros
339 million in capital gains to general-purpose provisions
Earnings
beat market expectations
-
Gross loans and advances to customers increased by 1.8%, and customer
funds
on the balance sheet rose by 8.9%.

Gross income before provisions declined by 5.6%.

After provisions and writedowns amounting to Euros 693.8 million,
attributable
net profit declined by 29.6% year-on-year.

At 30 June, the bank had more than 2 million customers and over 100,000
shareholders. Net addition of individual customers increased by 42% and
of business customers by 64% in year-on-year terms.

Improvement in all ratios:
Core
capital: Tier l capital ratio was 8.60%, up from 7.78% last year, and
core
capital was 7.70%, compared with 6.63% in June 2009. The BIS ratio was
10.38%.
Coverage:
the NPL coverage ratio was 63.58% (121.6%, including mortgage
collateral),
compared with 61.9% (117.8% including mortgage collateral) at the end
of
the first quarter.
Efficiency:
the costs/income ratio was 42.25%, compared with 43.06% at 30 June
2009.
