As the sixth largest manufacturer
of containerboard and corrugated packaging products in the United States,
Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is a key player in the Paper and
Forest Products industry. PCA's focus on a single line of business differentiates
us from major competitors, and has helped us develop a level of operational
excellence and profitability that is well-recognized in the investment
community.
PCA manufactures a broad
range of linerboard and corrugating medium at our four containerboard mills,
as well as a wide variety of corrugated packaging products at our 64 corrugated
products plants, including:
· Conventional shipping
containers used to protect and transport manufactured goods.
· Multi-color boxes
and displays with strong visual appeal used to merchandise products in
retail locations.
· Special design/application
boxes used in the food and agriculture industry.
A leader in integration,
PCA converts approximately 80% of the containerboard it produces into finished
corrugated containers for a broad base of both local and national accounts.
In 2002, PCA produced about 2.2 million tons of containerboard and shipped
about 27.5 billion square feet (BSF) of corrugated products, which produced
net sales of $1.7 billion.
Employing over 7,900 people
nationwide, PCA's corporate headquarters are located in Lake Forest, Illinois,
a suburb approximately 30 miles north of downtown Chicago.
