Artemis Fine Arts was founded
in London in 1970 as a dealership for important paintings and drawings
from the 16th to the early 20th century. In 1996 we opened a New York branch.
In addition to many private collectors, our important museum clients include,
among others, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the National Galleries
of London and Washington, the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Seattle Art Museum,
the Dallas Art Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery
of Scotland in Edinburgh, the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne,
and the Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen.
Our New York gallery is
located on the Upper East Side, close to the Frick Collection and the Metropolitan
Museum of Art. We have a rotating schedule of exhibitions and we encourage
collectors to drop by to browse or to discuss their collecting interests.
Our London office is located
in St. James's, close to the Royal Academy of Art in the heart of the city's
gallery district. Collectors are welcome to visit but appointments are
recommended.
Artemis Fine Arts was founded
by the Belgian banker Baron Léon Lambert together with the renowned
paintings connoisseur and dealer David Carritt. In 1995 Artemis acquired
the pre-eminent German prints and drawings dealership of C. G. Boerner,
founded in 1826 and currently based in Düsseldorf. Boerner's New York
branch shares its offices with Artemis (see separate web site at www.cgboerner.com).
