Olivetti is one of Europe's
largest industrial holdings, active in telecommunications services and
specific fields of the information & communications technology business
(ICT).
In 2002 the Group reported
revenues in excess of 31,4 billion euro and had over 100,000 employees.
Approximately 97% of its revenues are generated by the Telecom Italia Group,
of which Olivetti acquired control through a Voluntary Public Tender Offer
completed in June 1999.
Olivetti's largest shareholder
is Olimpia S.p.A., a company owned by Pirelli, Edizione Holding (Benetton
Group) and the IntesaBCI and Unicredito banks. Olimpia holds almost 29%
of Olivetti equity
