Newfoundland Capital Corporation
Limited (TSX – NCC.A, NCC.B) is a public company based in Dartmouth, Nova
Scotia. The Company owns and operates 42 radio stations representing
a total of 57 broadcast licences across Canada with a significant presence
in Alberta and Atlantic Canada.
The Company was incorporated
in 1949 as Eastern Provincial Airways Limited to provide air ambulance
and other air services to isolated points in Newfoundland and Labrador.
During the following 30 years, the Company developed into an integrated
regional airline serving Atlantic Canada, Montreal and Toronto. The
Company changed its name to Newfoundland Capital Corporation Limited in
1980 and proceeded to divest of the airline business in 1984 to Canadian
Pacific Air Lines. Since the early eighties, the Company has transitioned
in and out of various industries including transportation, the container
shipping and terminal business, publishing and printing.
