GASTAR EXPLORATION LTD.
Place de cotation: TORONTO

Gastar Exploration, Ltd. is an independent exploration and production company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange with a focus on natural gas assets in the United States and Australia. The Company pursues a balanced strategy combining low-risk coal bed methane (CBM) development in Wyoming's Powder River Basin and in Australia with positions in three of the most exciting deep natural gas plays in the USA.
Coal Bed Methane
Gastar controls approximately 40,000 net acres in Wyoming's Powder River Basin. The Powder River Basin is the most active CBM play in the U.S. with over 11,000 wells drilled to date. CBM development is an extremely low-risk activity since the extent of the coals and the gas productivity of the coals is well understood. Gastar currently has limited commercial gas production from its first phase of development on its properties. Gastar also is pursuing CBM development upon the approximate 4 million acres it controls in New South Wales and Victoria, Australia. The Company's Australian properties have been estimated to contain over 54 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of CBM in place with estimates that at least 20 TCF is recoverable.
