Barrick Gold Corporation
is a leading international gold company with operating mines and development
projects in the United States, Peru, Tanzania, Chile, Argentina, Australia
and Canada.
Barrick produced 5.7
million ounces of gold in 2002 at a total cash cost of $177 per ounce.
The Company has the industry's only A-rated balance sheet, a portfolio
of long-life, low-cost properties on four continents, and gold mineral
reserves of 86.9 million ounces.
The Company‘s five-year,
$2 billion development plan is comprised of four projects: Alto Chicama
in Peru, Cowal in Australia, Veladero in Argentina and Pascua-Lama in Chile
and Argentina. The four projects, projected to come into production between
2005 and 2008, are expected to contribute a total of 2 million ounces of
annual production at an average cash cost of $125 an ounce over the first
decade.
