19/12/07 Eddy
Duquenne appointed co-CEO of Kinepolis Group
The Kinepolis
Group Board of Directors has appointed yesterday (18/12/07) Eddy Duquenne,
former head of Sunparks, as co-CEO of Kinepolis Group along with Joost
Bert, also co-CEO, effective as of 1 January 2008.
The appointment
of Mr Duquenne is in line with the Board of Directors' decision to considerably
strengthen the operational management, at the instigation of the Bert family
and Joost Bert.
As co-CEO,
Eddy Duquenne will bear full operational responsibility, while Joost Bert
remains responsible for strategic, concept- and project-related developments
within the group.
Eddy Duquenne
(46) is a graduate in applied economic sciences. After a career spanning
many years as executive manager corporate banking at Fortis Bank (formerly
CGER/ASLK Bank), in 1998 he became CEO of Sunparks Group nv/sa.
From 1998 to
2007 he was joint CEO of Sunparks Group nv, along with Mark Vanmoerkerke.
The Vanmoerkerke family transferred the group to Pierres & Vacances
in the spring of this year. Mr Duquenne gained substantial expertise in
the general management of holiday villages. At Sunparks he built a reputation
as an enthusiastic, operational manager with an eye for customer experience,
operational efficiency and value creation. His experience in running leisure
activities and developing real-estate assets is extremely relevant for
the new challenge that he has taken on a Kinepolis.
Eddy Duquenne
has held a number of Directorships in the past, including one with GIMV.
He became an independent director (non-executive) of Kinepolis Group just
one year ago.
12/10/07 16.5
million Kinepolis visitors from January to September 2007
Between July
and September inclusive, Kinepolis Group welcomed 5.8 million film enthusiasts,
4.4%* more than in the third quarter of 2006. As of the end of September
2007, the number of cinema tickets sold stood at 16.5 million*, a slight
fall of 1.8% compared with the same period in 2006 (16.8 million*).
July and August
were successful in terms of ticket sales thanks to the range of popular
films on offer, including a host of children's and family films, and this
largely offset the weaker visitor figures recorded in the first half of
the year. Ticket sales in September were only moderate.
The successful
figures of the third quarter of 2006 (cf. 'Pirates: Dead Men's Chest',
the best scoring film of the year 2006) were exceeded by 4.4%* in the third
quarter of 2007
24/08/07 Kinepolis

ended the first half of 2007 with a net profit of € 8.2 million, an

on revenues of € 100.1 million. Net profit was 9% up on the first
half of 2006 (€ 7.5 million).
Despite lower
admission figures during the first half (-9%), the fall in revenue stayed
limited (-2%), thanks to the other operating activities in food and beverages,
retail, business-to-business and real estate.

11/07/07 10.7
million Kinepolis visitors in the first half of 2007
From January
to June this year, Kinepolis Group welcomed 10.7 million visitors to its
cinema complexes.
On a comparable
basis (*), this represents a fall of 7% on the previous year. Kinepolis
recorded a fall of 4% in the first quarter and a fall of 14% in the second
quarter of the year.
The absolute
visitor figure for the first six months (including the visitor figures
for Kinepolis Poland and Kinepolis Bruges) fell by 9% compared with last
year.
The mediocre
range of films on offer until mid-May and the warm weather, particularly
in April, were the main factors to take their toll. The successful first
quarter at Kinepolis France (Taxi 4, La Môme) and the final spurt
in visitor numbers internationally (mid-May - June), thanks to Spiderman
3, Ocean's 13, Pirates of the Caribbean 3 and Shrek 3, were unable to offset
the downturn entirely.
The Kinepolis
Top 5 in the first half of the year were Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Spiderman
3, Night at the Museum, Shrek the Third and 300.
Kinepolis'
most recent complexes, Kinepolis Bruges (2006), Kinepolis Nancy (2005)
and Kinepolis Granada (2004) - unlike the other complexes - recorded remarkable
growth.
Meanwhile,
the holiday months have got off to a good start. Die Hard 4 made
a very good beginning and today, 11 July 2007, sees the release of the
fifth Harry Potter film (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix).
Other promising
films due for release in July and August include The Simpsons Movie, Transformers,
Ratatouille and Fantastic Four 2.
Kinepolis Ostend,
the newest cinema complex in the Kinepolis Group, opened on Sunday 8 July
2007.

06/07/07 Opening
of Kinepolis Ostend
Another opening
in the wake of the innovative Kinepolis Bruges
The Kinepolis
Group's latest cinema complex, Kinepolis Ostend, will be open to the public
as of Sunday 8 July 2007. One thousand guests will be present at the official
opening of Kinepolis' newest cinematographic temple on the Belgian coast
on the evening of Saturday 7 July. A 3D Digital Cinema environment will
operate during the event. Kinepolis plans to equip each of its 23 complexes
with one 3D auditorium.
22/06/07 Kinepolis
Group visitor numbers update
Kinepolis Group
announces that the decline in visitor numbers recorded until mid-May has
only been partly offset over the past few weeks.
In the context
of its general meeting (18/05/07), Kinepolis had previously reported that
sales of cinema tickets were down compared with last year, in line with
the decline in the market, as a result of the persistent fine weather and
the mediocre range of films on offer up to and including the month of April.
Some ground
has been gained over the past few weeks thanks partly to box-office hits
such as Spiderman 3, Ocean's 13, Pirates of the Caribbean and Shrek 3.
However, the recovery is not going as smoothly as had been hoped. The fall
in visitor numbers recorded will have an effect on the group's current
half-yearly result and possibly on its current annual result.
The process
of organising the real-estate structure is continuing so as to be able
to develop and diversify the assets comprising land and buildings. There
are no plans to sell real estate, contrary to recent hypotheses put forward
in the media.
Kinepolis will
be opening its 23rd cinema complex in Ostend (Belgium) on 8 July. On Tuesday,
Kinepolis announced another Belgian construction project in Liège
for 2009.
Kinepolis will
be publishing the visitor numbers for the first six months on 11/07/07
and the half-yearly results on 24/08/07
13/04/07 5.7
million Kinepolis tickets in the first quarter of 2007
Kinepolis Group
welcomed 5 702 381 visitors to its cinema complexes between January and
March this year. As expected, Kinepolis' visitor numbers during the first
quarter of 2007 were down on the same period in 2006. The real blockbuster
season of the 2007 film year begins in May.
The overall
number of visitors for the first quarter (5.7 million) fell by 6% compared
with last year
(6.1 million).
On a comparative basis, that is setting aside the visitor figures of Cinema
City Kinepolis in Poland (transferred and hired out to the cinema group
ITIT as of 19 January 2007) and the new complex in Bruges (opened in July
2006), this means a drop of 4% compared with the same period last year.
As was indicated
when the 2006 results were announced in March, this fall during the first
quarter was expected, and may be attributed mainly to the mediocre range
of films on offer during this period. The international Kinepolis Top 5
- Night at the Museum, Taxi 4, Blood Diamond, The Departed and La Môme
(1st quarter of 2007) - were unable to match the success of Les Bronzés
3 Amis pour la Vie, Chronicles of Narnia, King Kong, Munich and Harry Potter
and the Goblet of Fire in the first quarter of 2006.
Visitor figures
fell in Belgium and Spain, with the exception of Kinepolis Granada, which
is still experiencing a remarkable growth phase. Kinepolis France managed
to surpass the outstanding result recorded in the first quarter of 2006
with the French hit Les Bronzés 3 thanks to the success of the French
films Taxi 4 and La Môme.
The real blockbuster
season of the 2007 film year will begin in May with the release of Spiderman
3, followed by Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Ocean's 13, Shrek 3 and Harry
Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
